Tatapouri Motor Camp is a laid-back, family orientated Gisborne holiday park offering the ideal surroundings for surfing, boating, fishing and diving. The park can easily be found while following one of New Zealand’s best touring routes – the Pacific Coast Highway.
Tatapouri Motor Camp - your Gisborne campground - is situated on a 3.8ha block of land and includes the site of the former Tatapouri Hotel which was destroyed by fire in 1996, and earlier hit by a tsunami in 1947. It has always been the stop-off point on the old East Coast coach road for workers and travellers, and the original building burned down in 1926.
Tatapouri is only 10 minutes from Gisborne giving you the convenience of this vibrant city, its shops and attractions; yet when you stay with Tatapouri Motor Camp, you'll feel like you're a million miles from anywhere. The wildlife here is fantastic with the occasional sightings of penguins, seals, dolphins, whales and many different types of sea birds.
Tatapouri is a fantastic base to explore the untouched solitude of the East Cape or to indulge in Gisborne’s more discerning activities such as visiting vineyards and wineries or partake in one of the many fantastic events throughout the region
